Understanding the recovery journey reduces fear. Most patients are surprised by how quickly they return to normal activity with endoscopic techniques.
Every patient deserves to understand exactly what is wrong, what can be done about it, and what recovery will genuinely look like - before any decision is made.
I had lived with sciatica for three years. After the endoscopic procedure, the leg pain disappeared within two days. I walked out of the hospital the next morning.
What I appreciated most was the clarity. He showed me my MRI, explained exactly what was wrong, and told me honestly that I had options. No pressure. Just facts.
After two failed surgeries abroad, I came here as a last resort. The team identified the issue immediately. Three months later I'm running again.
Patients often come with fear shaped by misinformation. These are the questions we hear most, answered plainly by Dr. Salami.
Book a ConsultationYes. Endoscopic spine surgery is one of the safest approaches to spinal intervention. Because the incision is only 8mm and surrounding muscles are not cut, risks of infection, blood loss, and nerve damage are significantly lower than open surgery.
In most cases, no. Many endoscopic procedures are performed under local anaesthesia with sedation - you are relaxed and comfortable but not fully unconscious. This makes recovery significantly faster.
Most patients don't, but Dr. Salami will tell you honestly if that's the case. Surgery is considered only when conservative treatments have failed, or when there is nerve damage that won't recover without decompression.
Bring any recent MRI or CT scans, a summary of previous treatments, and a list of your symptoms. If your scans are older than 18 months, a fresh MRI may be recommended before or after the consultation.
Most patients walk within hours of the procedure. Desk workers return to work at 2–4 weeks. Manual jobs at 6–8 weeks. Athletes return to sport by 3 months. These timelines are significantly faster than open surgery.
Absolutely. Many patients with disc herniations, sciatica, and mild stenosis respond well to physiotherapy, injections, and activity modification. We always recommend the least invasive effective option first.
